TIJUANA, Baja California, September 27, 2009 –
The Mexican representatives continued achieving
success at the Baja California Beach Volleyball
Tournament and reached the semi final round of
the competition in both genders.
In the women’s side the pair of home favorites
Bibi Candelas and Mayra Garcia will play against
Costa Ricans Ingrid Morales and Natalia Alfaro
and the local duo of Martha Revueltas and Diana
Estrada will meet Cubans Ion Canet and Milagros
Valle.
The men’s semi finals features Mexicans Juan
Virgen and Aldo Miramontes against Canadians
Daniel Dearing and Chaim Schalk and Cubans
Yunieski Ramirez and Yoendry Kindelan against
Puerto Ricans Orlando Irizarry and Roberto
Rodriguez.
Candelas-Garcia defeated Mexico 4 of Alin Acero
(21-10, 21-9) and then beat Cubans Valle-Canet
(21-15, 21-12). Revueltas-Estrada beat Nancy
Joseph-Elki Phillip of Trinidad & Tobago (21-15,
21-17) and Costa Ricans Morales-Alfaro (21-12,
21-17).
Morales-Alfaro reached the semi finals by
defeating Mexico 3 team of Yesica Brambila-Diana
Ramirez (21-17, 21-14) and Valle-Canet defeated
the USA team of Briana Hinga- Laura Ratto
(21-16, 21-15).
Virgen-Miramontes defeated Canadians Ahren
Cadieux-Martin Reader (24-22, 21-19) and Puerto
Ricans Irizarry-Rodriguez beat Canada 2 of
Daniel Dearing and Chaim Schalk (21-17, 21-18).
Dearing-Schalk then edged Mexicans Ulises and
Lombardo Ontiveros (23-21, 14-21, 16-14) and
Ramirez-Kindelan beat Cadieux-Reader (21-15,
14-21, 15-11).
